Flip Ultra HD vs. Iphone 3GS..It's On!
To what extent the threat of the iPhone 3G Family Flip video camera? To answer this question, I spent some time with the Flip Mino and Flip Ultra HD and compared the results with the iPhone 3G.
He wanted to know if the video recording capabilities of the iPhone that I want to dump one or two of these launches.
The answer is that reducing the Flip Mino, but stick to the Flip Ultra HD. Here's why:
The Mino to capture standard definition does not offer much more than the iPhone 3G. Provides better enter some movement within and zoom. But at 640 x 480 at 30 frames per second, the same as the iPhone 3G, which gives a clearer picture of the device from Apple, I thought more colorful.
Ultra HD, however, is a clear winner in the iPhone 3GS. Not only produce a high definition image (1280 x 720 at 30 fps), which is much more accurate, but it also records in stereo, giving greater overall experience.
However, the iPhone 3G has tricks up his sleeve to make this comparison more difficult. You can upload videos to YouTube or MobileMe - if not too long - straight from the phone via Wi-Fi or cellular. It is simple to use and makes it easy to share.
Flip video cameras have great options for sharing and transferring images on YouTube and MySpace, or the ability to send images to your own online Flip Channel. But you must work through a PC or Mac to do that.
Editing video clips
The trick with another great 3GS iPhone is the ability to do basic editing of a video clip. You can watch your movie in a calendar and can be reduced from the beginning or end of the clip, just take a piece of the timeline.
Software Flip has a more robust software edition which not only allows you trim clips, but also combine them into films with base effects. But again, you have to do on your computer.
Apple has a few things in its favor. It can provide up to 32 GB of storage, while the Ultra HD caps to 8 GB. And it has a large 3.5-inch screen to view your videos, and more goods than 2-inch LCD for the Ultra HD.
But perhaps more importantly, the iPhone will probably always be with you, so there is less clutter and ensure that you can still take video.
Devices reversal, however, offer better battery life, a concern for any mobile device. Ultra HD uses two AA rechargeable batteries, which provides 4.5 hours of life. The Mino has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery gives you four hours. Of course, their storage limits (120 minutes for HD Ultra and Mino for 60 minutes), clients can use video to capacity before the battery is exhausted.
When recording video, the iPhone 3G uses a reasonable amount of battery life, which must also be just what the iPhone, like make calls, play music or surf the Web. I took a clip of 30 minutes of video on the iPhone in airplane mode 3GS and has lost 17 percent of my battery life. This means that you are looking for within three hours of video recording with the rest off.
